Ethics: Knowing the Rules of the Road
This session is an exploration of the basic ethical guidelines for addiction professionals. It includes the historical foundations for the NAADAC code of ethics as well as an exploration of the most common pitfalls and examples thereof. The importance of confidentiality and the duties and responsibilities of people working within the field will be addressed. Duty to warn, self-disclosure, dual relationship, and differing professional roles will specifically be addressed during the session. This session is intended and appropriate for people new to the addiction professions or else those seeking a review.
