Integrative Development Model of Clinical Supervision

The goal of the Integrative Developmental Model (IDM) is to promote personal and professional therapist growth through three developmental levels by closely attending to the three overriding structures (Self-and-Other Awareness, Motivation, and Autonomy) across eight domains of clinical practice including intervention skills competence, assessment techniques, individual differences, and professional ethics. The IDM stresses the importance of assessing the therapist's developmental level while at the same time providing the optimal supervisory environment for progression through those levels. This 6 Hour training will provide an overview of the model and incorporate both didactic and experiential modalities. Participants will be encouraged to develop an individual IDM plan for their organization.

Objectives:

1. Describe the Integrative Developmental Model of Supervision (IDM)

2. Identify the various elements that comprise the IDM

3. Explain how awareness, motivation, and autonomy are influenced by a supervisees developmental level

4. Develop a framework to assess supervisees level of development and methods to support on-going skill development

5. Gauge supervisor level of development and how it influences the supervisory relationship

Trainer: Alan Lyme, LISW, MAC, ICCS, brings respected and innovative clinical and program management skills as the Training Director for the Phoenix Center in Greenville, South Carolina. Alan is concurrently the Clinical Supervisor for the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) grant initiative for the State of South Carolina. Alan has provided trainings nationally on Motivational Interviewing, Clinical Supervision, and Skills on Working with Men. He is a co-author on the book “Game Plan” (2007) with Dr. David Powell. He received a BSW from Florida Atlantic University in 1998 and a MSW from Barry University in 1999. Alan is a MINT recognized Motivational Interviewing trainer, a Certified Clinical Supervisor, a Master Addictions Counselor, and a Certified Master of Leadership Challenge Workshops.
